Team Overview and Job responsibilities
The optimal candidate will live in the Greater Cincinnati area. This role is located onsite in Highland Heights and requires to be in office 5 days per week. The Import Export Customs Specialist will manage import and export compliance processes to ensure adherence to Customs regulations. The Specialist will be a leader of process improvements to ensure compliance to trade regulations while facilitating the inbound and outbound movement of shipments to and from USA and Canada.
Ensure compliance of company import and export shipments
Responsible for delivering payment of duties and taxes on time
Attention to details with HTS codes, duty and tariffs amounts, GST, values, accurate country of origins, and other duties as assigned
Responsible for reconciling payments through company customs software
Review vendor certificates to ensure accuracy
Partner with customers to issue FTA certificates
Collaborate with international freight forwarders to book import/export shipments
Auditing freight pay and other tasks as assigned
Renewing customs bond
Ability to classify products for import/export compliance and issue USMCA certifications
Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams including sales, supply chain, and R&D
Who are we looking for?
Associates degree in a related field, required.
Bachelor's degree or four-year equivalent degree, preferred.
Customs Broker or CCS/CES certification preferred.
3-5 years of international logistics or import/export compliance
In depth knowledge of import/export regulations
Ability to communicate effectively across different functions
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Works out of a normal office environment with standard office equipment available.
Extended periods of sitting or standing at a desk or workstation.
Repetitive tasks such as typing, filing, and data entry, which may require dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Will be required to sit, bend, kneel, squat, use keyboard, read, write, and speak fluently.
Employee will regularly be required to lift and carry objects of 5-10 pounds as needed.
Employee will occasionally be required to lift and carry objects of 15-25 pounds as needed.
Employee will be required to work productively and cooperatively in a high-volume, fast paced, highly pressured environment and be able to respond efficiently and courteously to unanticipated problems and crisis.
This role is not typically exposed to adverse environmental conditions, except excessive eye strain.
When travel is necessary, will be exposed to typical travel environment and surroundings.
