Senior SQL Server Database Administrator Azure

Experience Level: Senior (Minimum 10 years of professional experience)

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in Azure SQL Server and Azure SQL Subscription management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing, securing, optimizing, and migrating SQL Server environments, both on-premises and in the Azure cloud. This is a fully remote opportunity for professionals located in India or Argentina.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and administer SQL Server databases (on-premises and Azure SQL).

Plan, implement, and oversee Azure SQL Subscription services, ensuring high availability and cost-efficiency.

Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and monitoring.

Configure and maintain disaster recovery, backups, and high availability solutions (Always On, Geo-Replication, etc.).

Implement and monitor security policies, access controls, and compliance standards.

Plan and execute database migrations from on-premises SQL Server to Azure SQL.

Work with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD and database lifecycle management.

Monitor and troubleshoot production issues and proactively address database health and capacity concerns.

Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Azure SQL Server and Azure SQL Subscription management.

Strong experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.

Deep knowledge of T-SQL, backup/recovery, replication, indexing, and security configurations.

Proven experience with migration projects from on-premises SQL Server to Azure.

Familiarity with Azure services like Azure Monitor, Azure Security Center, and Azure Automation.

Understanding of licensing and cost management for Azure SQL resources.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certification.

Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation.

Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools and CI/CD pipelines related to database deployments.

Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
