Health Information Technician
Location: Correctional Facility – London, OH
Pay: $17–$18 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday (No weekends or holidays)
Overtime: Not approved
Position Summary
The Health Information Technician is responsible for compiling, organizing, and maintaining health information and medical records within a correctional facility setting. This role requires strong administrative skills, accuracy, and professionalism. Candidates should be comfortable walking between buildings regularly, though not excessively.
Key Responsibilities
Compile health information and review medical reports for completeness.
Organize reports and prepare charts for new admissions.
Review charts to ensure all required documentation and signatures are present.
Type and prepare health information forms, requests, and certificates.
Compile and type statistical reports (daily/monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, length of stay).
File and retrieve health information records; maintain logs and filing systems.
Scan documents into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Provide information from records after determining appropriateness of request.
Coordinate with other departments regarding health information procedures.
Requirements
Strong administrative skills in a medical office setting.
Highly organized, punctual, and personable.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience preferred—training available.
Ability to walk between buildings frequently.
Minimum Qualifications
Records Management: 3 courses or 9 months of experience.
Medical Terminology: 1 course or 3 months of experience.
Typing: 1 course or 3 months of experience.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
