Texas International Refining Company (TIRCO) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Maintenance Superintendent to lead daily maintenance operations, drive asset reliability, and ensure the safe execution of all maintenance activities across the facility. This role provides leadership to maintenance crews and contractors while supporting operational excellence, safety, and cost control.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Provide daily leadership, direction, and supervision to maintenance personnel and contractors.
Develop and manage weekly and monthly maintenance schedules in coordination with Operations and Planning.
Ensure full compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements including LOTO, confined space, hot work, and safe work permitting.
Oversee contractor performance, verify timesheets, ensure PO compliance, and monitor cost control.
Review job plans, drawings, and materials to ensure efficient and high-quality execution of maintenance work.
Support Mechanical Integrity programs and ensure corrective actions are completed according to API-653, 570, and 510 standards.
Monitor asset performance, troubleshoot equipment failures, and assist with root-cause analysis.
Maintain accurate documentation within the CMMS including work orders, PMs, and asset history.
Assist with annual budget planning, track R&M spending, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Serve as the day-to-day liaison between Operations, Engineering, Projects, and Contractors.
Respond to emergency maintenance needs and support after-hours or on-call duties as required.
Job Qualifications
Strong background in Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
10+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably within refinery, terminal, or heavy industrial environments.
Minimum 3-5 years of leadership or supervisory experience overseeing maintenance teams or contractors.
Strong technical understanding of pumps, compressors, rotating equipment, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
Experience using CMMS platforms (SAP, Maximo, Fiix, or similar).
Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and safe work permitting processes.
Familiarity with Mechanical Integrity programs and API codes (API-653, API-570, API-510).
Ability to read P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills under pressure.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work extended hours or respond after-hours as needed.
Work Environment
Industrial refinery/terminal setting with regular exposure to field conditions.
Requires walking, climbing, lifting, and the ability to navigate equipment areas safely.
