POSITION SUMMARY

The Strategic M&A Manager is responsible for developing acquisition strategies, maintaining target pipelines, and coordinating due diligence. Supports leadership with insight and prepares integration playbooks, prioritizing evaluation and planning rather than executing transactions or post-merger delivery.

This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's Westerville, OH - HQ location.

Responsibilities:

Lead the development of a comprehensive M&A strategy aligned with corporate objectives, industry trends, and growth goals.

Prepare and maintain a robust long list and short list of qualified acquisition targets by conducting market scans, sector analyses, and stakeholder interviews.

Screen, evaluate, and prioritize targets based on strategic fit, financial potential, and risk profile for executive review and decision-making.

Coordinate non-execution due diligence processes, including commercial, operational, and financial assessments, to support transaction feasibility.

Assist in the early stages of engagement with potential targets, including preparing initial briefs, managing NDAs, and supporting pipeline tracking and reporting.

Develop an M&A integration playbook by documenting best practices, integration frameworks, and lessons learned from previous transactions, supporting future post-merger activities.

Prepare investment proposals, strategic rationales, and presentation materials for senior management and board consideration.

Track progress on the M&A funnel and report regularly to leadership on pipeline status, shortlisting progress, and strategic rationale updates.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree; Advanced degree in finance, business, strategy, engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.

7+ years proven experience in corporate development, strategy, or M&A in relevant industries is required.

Experience or education in engineering.

Strong analytical, research, and presentation skills.

Ability to synthesize market information into actionable strategy and communicate insights to senior stakeholders.

Strategic, analytical thinker with strong business acumen

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and work collaboratively across matrixed teams.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in project management.

Experience developing integration frameworks and documentation is a plus
