About Your Role:
UGL’s Manufacturing & Maintenance division is seeking a skilled, driven Maintenance Operations Planner (MOC) to join our team at the Maintenance Operations Centre in Hamilton North, Newcastle. The MOC is a 24/7 help desk supporting locomotive customers. It is staffed by Technical Coordinators who work 12 hour rotating shifts to provide timely solutions to maintenance and technical issues.
Reporting to the Maintenance Operations Centre Manager, you will plan, develop, implement, and maintain daily and weekly maintenance schedules for UGL’s customer fleets. You will focus on minimizing asset restrictions and downtime while maximizing fleet availability. You will also lead rectification plans for locomotive repairs and maintenance, manage SAP backlogs effectively, and oversee the MOC communication system to ensure smooth, accurate information flow.
This role is critical to fleet availability and performance, directly contributing to UGL’s reputation for delivering reliable, high quality services to clients across Australia.
What you’ll do:
Take ownership of daily and weekly maintenance scheduling for customer fleets, ensuring plans are safe, achievable, and meet operational demands.
Coordinate and prioritize resources to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
Develop and lead rectification plans to address asset restrictions and manage SAP backlogs, ensuring repairs and services are delivered on time.
Collaborate with Technical Coordinators and stakeholders to resolve maintenance or technical issues, ensuring customers receive accurate, timely updates.
Support and maintain the MOC communication system, ensuring a seamless flow of information to internal teams and external stakeholders.
About you:
Experience in planning and scheduling.
Strong SAP skills, including planning, service orders, and backlog management.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines.
Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills.
Outstanding communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced operational environment.
Desirable experience:
Familiarity with locomotive operations or maintenance processes, providing insight into client requirements.
Prior experience in customer service or stakeholder management roles to build strong working relationships and ensure effective communication
