Job Description

As a Principal Modernization Architect at CoverMyMeds, you’ll create solutions that make our healthcare system work more efficiently and effectively to help millions of people receive their prescription medications every year. You’ll help create the technical vision and design products that our partners in healthcare use every day and innovate products that don't even exist yet. You’ll work in small, cross-functional, and collaborative teams with endless opportunities to take responsibility, continue learning, and mentor others.

What You’ll Do

CoverMyMeds is developing an innovative product platform to address challenging issues in specialty healthcare. In this role, you’ll work with stakeholders throughout the organization and create solutions that help us quickly launch new or enhanced healthcare services.

Role & Responsibilities:

Contribute to shaping the technical strategy and future development plans for our modern product platform.

Contribute to business and technical senior leadership discussions about current and future software engineering needs and create technical roadmap(s) on how to solve.

Apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts in the IT architecture field by performing technical planning, architecture development, and developing specifications for new products/services, applications, and service offerings.

Defines standards and best practices to ensure consistency, scalability, and reliability across the organization.

Present to and consult with senior leadership to develop strategic solutions to complex problems.

Consults with and mentor technical teams on effective implementation of new technologies.

Minimum Requirement:

10+ years of experience in a technology role with proven experience in a Solution Architecture or Engineering Architecture role, preferably in a large, complex organization.

Technical skills:

Cloud Technologies: extensive and proficient experience in multiple cloud providers, but with a specific focus on Microsoft Azure.

FHIR Standards Implementation: Extensive experience with HL7 FHIR (R4), resource modeling, profiling, and guides for payer and provider scenarios.

EHR Integration: Extensive experience integrating with major EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Allscripts) using SMART on FHIR, HL7 v2, CDA, and proprietary APIs.

Interoperability Strategy: Led enterprise-wide interoperability initiatives that solve internal and external challenges in a standard, scalable, and secure way.

SOA Architecture: Designed, implemented, and scaled a modernization technology strategy based on a Service Oriented Architecture approach.

Security & Compliance: Strong knowledge of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SMART scopes, and RBAC/ABAC models for secure healthcare data access and exchange.

Data Modeling & Transformation: Skilled in mapping legacy data models to FHIR resources, leveraging ETL pipelines, terminology services (SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm), and data normalization techniques.

AI & Analytics Enablement: Architected data lakes and real-time streaming platforms to support clinical decision support, predictive modeling, and AI/ML use cases.

Architects and oversees proper implementation of organization-wide software solutions.

Emerging Technologies: Stay at the forefront of patterns and trends, recommends opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage, and conducts proof-of-concepts when necessary to demonstrate technology value.

Non-technical skills:

Proficient in creating and getting alignment from critical stakeholders on a technical vision.

Able to understand highly complex challenges and propose aligned, solutions

Able to work effectively with multiple competing business and technical constraints.

Present to and influence a diverse number of audiences to influence strategic and tactical decisions.

Assess, collaborate and select modern patterns, solutions, integration engines, and interoperability platforms for scalability and compliance.

Leads or consults on highly complex and/or long-term projects that have an organization-wide impact.

Engage in architecture review boards, reusable patterns, and best practices for adoption across teams.

Ability to plan and execute LRP strategies that balance business, financial, and technical constraints.

Cultivates a culture of collaboration, communication, and accountability

Strong grasp on healthcare industry, long-term business strategies, and risk management

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$189,200 - $315,300
