Summary of Job

As a customer service based and quality focused department, the Information Technology Department provides a vibrant infrastructure, an integrated tool set of applications, and information access services to support current and future technology goals and the strategic plan focus areas of the City of Sheboygan. This program is administered by the Information Technology Department.

Under the direction of the Television Program Director, the camera operator assists in productions both in the studio, and on-location. Studio productions require studio set and microphone setup time. Location productions require setup and break down of recording equipment. The main responsibility is to provide good quality audio & video for the overall production. It is imperative job duties are performed with respect, integrity, objectivity and in the best interest of the City. All City employees are expected to be honest and truthful at all times.

The hours for this position vary. Hours are mostly evenings and Saturdays, averaging 5-10 hours per week during sports seasons (basketball & football).

Responsibilities

Assists director in WSCS studio during pre-post production time.

Connects audio cables and places microphones.

Assists with guests' needs and goes over time cues with host.

Assists director and WSCS staff during location pre-production, including equipment set-up, camera, cables, tripods, audio cables, and microphones.

Follows director's commands for camera shots.

Assists in equipment take down after productions.

Must be able to work alone for single-camera productions.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Possession and maintenance of valid driver's license and auto insurance in accordance with state of Wisconsin law required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Reliable and able to be on time for scheduled productions.

Able to listen and follow director's camera commands.

Basic computer literacy.

Fluency in English.

Familiar with MS Office products.

Able to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms.

Able to prepare and maintain accurate and complete reports and records.

Knowledge of basic budgeting principles required.

Able to act, make decisions, and justify action based on logic, good judgment, and rational thought.
