Job Title: Senior Technical Configurator – LabVantage LIMS
The Senior Technical Configurator – LabVantage will be responsible for the design, configuration, and enhancement of LabVantage LIMS modules to support laboratory operations across Quality Control (QC) labs. This role requires a strong blend of LabVantage technical configuration expertise, domain knowledge of laboratory processes in pharma, and understanding ofvalidation principles and GxP compliance. The configurator will ensure that LIMS functionalities are optimized, standardized, secure and scalable across global laboratories while enabling integration with instruments, CDS, SAP, Labs and enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. System Configuration, Master Data & Design
Configure, customize, and maintain LabVantage LIMS modules, including sample management, test methods, specifications, stability, instrument management labels, and reporting.
Design and manage master data models, hierarchies, and workflows that support standardized business processes and ensure global data integrity.
Implement and maintain configuration components such as test templates, calculations, result entry forms, limits management, and controlled vocabularies.
Configure user roles or job types, privileges, and security models compliant with global and site-level governance standards.
Support Azure cloud-hosted environments, ensuring configuration compatibility, scalability, and adherence to enterprise IT policies.
Manage version control and lifecycle management of configuration objects, ensuring traceability and alignment with validated state.
2. Technical Development & Platform Support
Provide Tier 2 platform and master data support, acting as the primary escalation layer after support partner and before global solution teams.
Analyze, triage, and resolve system issues through root cause analysis, leveraging both business and technical knowledge to minimize downtime.
Develop and maintain scripts, business rules, and LabVantage SDK components to automate data processing and workflow activities.
Support and troubleshoot instrument integrations (e.g., Empower, Chromeleon, SmartLab, Darwin, Complex instruments) and maintain data exchange with ERP, ELN, QMS, MES, EM and analytics systems.
Develop or maintain barcode custom labels using Bartender label and printing software.
Develop and maintain custom reports, APIs, and interfaces ensuring seamless information flow and system interoperability.
Apply automated testing frameworks and tools to validate configuration changes and regression scenarios in future-state environments.
Manage and implement configured and custom code in version control through the release lifecycle.
3. Quality, Validation & Compliance
Ensure all configuration activities comply with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity (ALCOA+) principles.
Prepare and maintain design specifications, configuration documentation, and validation test scripts for IQ/OQ/PQ activities along with installation procedures
Support change control, release management, and deployment processes, ensuring compliance and stability in a multi-environment setup.
Contribute to validation automation initiatives aligned with cloud-first, DevOps-enabled quality systems.
Build testing scenarios/documents and to test method templates
Collaborate with Change Control Board (CAB) ensuring controlled deployment of configurations.
4. Support, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
Act as the Tier 2/advanced support team, resolving complex issues and enhancement/ feature requests prior to global IT escalation.
Partner with support partner and internal business users to provide proactive, knowledge-based resolutions that improve incident turnaround time.
Support platform upgrades, patch management, and regression testing using automated test scripts and validation tools.
Identify and implement opportunities for process automation, master data harmonization, and operational excellence.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge base documentation, reusable templates, and configuration repositories to support scalability and onboarding.
Contribution towards the Vendor package impact analysis on the existing workflow / modules.
5. Collaboration, Leadership & Governance
Collaborate with Global IT and global solution architects, validation teams, and functional business leads to translate requirements into standardized, supportable configurations.
Serve as a technical SME for platform and master data management within the LabVantage ecosystem.
Mentor and guide junior team members on LabVantage configuration standards, troubleshooting, and support methodologies.
Partner with vendors and managed service teams to ensure high-quality, compliant technical delivery within the Azure environment.
Contribute to global governance forums to drive alignment, consistency, and optimization across the enterprise LIMS landscape.
Expertise with Lab Product features.

Collaborate & Lead: Partner effectively with global architects, vendors, and business stakeholders while mentoring peers to ensure high-quality, standardized delivery across the enterprise.

Basic Qualifications and Experience Requirement:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
12+ years of experience in LIMS configuration and administration, with 5+ years specifically on LabVantage LIMS.
Deep understanding of LabVantage architecture, configuration framework, and SDK capabilities (Java, Groovy, or similar scripting).
Experience in building and maintaining test methods, workflows, calculations, and specifications within LabVantage.
Strong knowledge of QC lab processes in the pharma or life sciences domain.
Working experience with instrument integrations, data interfaces (REST/SOAP APIs, file-based, or middleware), and reporting tools.
Proven experience with CSV documentation, audit readiness, and change control processes.
Exposure to system upgrades, performance tuning, and cloud deployments (preferred).
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Azure Cloud Administration & Deployment: Experience managing, supporting, or optimizing applications hosted on Azure (VMs, storage, networking, security, monitoring).
Automated Testing & Validation Tools: Familiarity with test automation frameworks and scripting for regression, functional, and performance testing in validated systems.
Scripting & Development Proficiency: Hands-on ability in Java, Groovy, or SQL for LabVantage SDK enhancements, data manipulation, and process automation.
API & Integration Knowledge: Understanding of REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, and data exchange standards between LIMS, ERP, ELN, and QMS platforms.
Master Data Governance: Experience defining, maintaining, and auditing master data models ensuring data quality, traceability, and compliance.
Change & Release Management: Knowledge of configuration lifecycle processes, version control, and validation documentation within regulated environments.
Knowledge Base Development: Ability to create reusable documentation, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides for knowledge sharing and faster issue resolution.
Hands-on experience in tools like JIRA, ALM, Service Now, PL/SQL leveraging SQL Server, GitHub, Lucid charts. Certification in LabVantage Administration and SDMS from LabVantage solutions is preferred.
