Join regular collaborative interdisciplinary rounds to analyze complex cases with colleagues. Stay clinically sharp through supported conferences and CME reimbursement. Share your expertise with 12 family practice residents, UBC 3rd year clerks, and 4th year visiting students. For hospitalists passionate about teaching, these academic partnerships allow you to impart valued insights while refining your own skills through mentoring. Make an impact by training new providers, staying up to date, and learning from students.
The Hospital
The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 273 bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people and is located in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals and Level 1 Trauma Centres, RIH receives over 250 major trauma and 72,000 ED visits per year. The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower opened at RIH in the summer of 2022. Among other services, the tower includes child and adolescent mental health and substance use inpatient unit as well as a 30 bed general psychiatric unit (20 general and 10 high observation beds and 3 seclusion beds).

Compensation
Compensation Type: Clinical Service Contract
Estimated Remuneration: For a full time hospitalist, anticipate an annual income of $336,162.00 plus MOCAP Level 2. Physician Overhead: There is a small overhead payment of $3.48 per hour worked.
Benefits and Incentives
Vacation Leave: Thanks to your adaptable and thoughtful colleagues, scheduling is effortless, ensuring you can relax and unwind.
Relocation Funding: $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 for moves within Canada, and $15,000 for those relocating from outside Canada.
Other Benefits/Incentives: An additional percentage on top of the Base Rate will be applied when the physician group are collectively eligible for the following incentives:
Quality Incentive (up to an additional 10% of the total hours worked)
Coverage Incentive (up to an additional 10% of the total hours worked)
Volume Incentive (20% rate premium on base APSA rate for hours worked during periods of overcapacity)
It’s important to note that incentives are subject to change, and the specific rates will be confirmed at the time of the offer.
