Brightshores Health System (Brightshores) Cancer Centre is seeking a permanent full time board-certified Medical Oncologist to join our existing team.
Brightshores operates six hospitals in the Grey Bruce region with its Level 2 regional referral hospital located in the City of Owen Sound. A full range of specialty services are offered through the Departments of Anaesthesia, Medical Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology). Thriving rural hospitals are located in the communities of Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton and Wiarton, servicing a range of ambulatory, in-patient and emergency needs.
Service Delivery – Brightshores Cancer Centre
Brightshores Cancer Centre serves over 170,000 residents in Grey Bruce, providing care for a broad range of malignancies including breast, lung, GI, GU, gynecologic, skin, neuroendocrine and hematologic. The Centre includes a 16-chair chemotherapy suite delivering systemic and advanced treatments. Additional services include a Diagnostic Assessment Program (DAP) for thoracic and GU cancers, and consultative palliative care.
Multidisciplinary Team
Care is delivered through a strong multidisciplinary team, including two Medical Oncologists/Hematologists, two Nurse Practitioners, social workers, a dietitian, drug access navigator, two pharmacists, and five palliative care physicians. The team works collaboratively to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care. Brightshores is also an active teaching site with regular medical student and resident rotations. Tertiary care support is provided by partners in London, Ontario.
Workload Expectations
Four (4) clinical days per week providing outpatient oncology care
One (1) administrative day per week for charting, case review, or program development
Participation in on-call rotation: currently 1 in 3 (typically a weekly rotation)
Qualifications
FRCPC in Medical Oncology (or equivalent: USA Board-certified or eligible for Royal College exam)
Independent license or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
Hematology experience considered an asset, but not required
Demonstrated integrity, collaborative approach, and commitment to service excellence and quality patient care
Compensation
Provincial Alternate Funding Plan Agreement for Medical Oncologists
