Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Low Voltage Cable Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with pulling and terminating CAT5/CAT6 cabling, punching down high-count patch panels, and performing basic fiber splicing. This role also requires a solid foundation in general IT concepts and the ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cabling (CAT5/CAT6) in commercial and residential environments

Terminate and test network cables, jacks, and patch panels

Punch down and organize high-count patch panels with proper labeling and documentation

Perform basic fiber splicing, termination, and testing

Assist with installation of network hardware such as switches, access points, and racks

Troubleshoot cable faults, connectivity issues, and basic network problems

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site

Communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and clients

Travel to clients (mostly on Long Island, some in tristate area)

Qualifications:

Previous experience with low-voltage cabling, fiber, or structured wiring

Familiarity with cable testers, toners, OTDRs, and other industry tools

Understanding of basic IT/networking concepts (IP addressing, switches, patching, etc.)

Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams and floor plans

Strong attention to detail, especially regarding cable management and labeling

Comfortable working on ladders, in ceilings, and in small spaces

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred (Not Required):

Certifications such as BICSI, CompTIA A+, or Network+

Experience with access control, cameras, or other low-voltage systemsCompany Description
