Clinical Co-Lead, Northern Region Maternity Network
Background
The Northern Region Maternity Network Clinical Co-lead role will advance clinical leadership, engagement and participation in agreed regional network developments. This is an exciting time to support the next phase of network development in the region.
There has been a long-standing commitment to collaboration across district clinical and operational leaders to develop and support a range of maternity services and operational priorities. Work is now underway to develop and implement a 2-year network plan and enabling structures to improve ways of working regionally that will further improve patient, whānau and service performance outcomes.
Role
The primary purpose of the role is to work in partnership with the Northern Region Maternity Network Midwifery Co-lead to provide strong leadership, deliver on strategic direction and priorities at the regional level and aligned with National Maternity Clinical Network priorities.
In partnership with the regional Network Midwifery Co-Lead, the Clinical Co-Lead will champion:
· Strong relationships and work alongside district clinical leads to implement a regional Network plan that will deliver improved outcomes for patients, whānau and the health system
· Co-lead the development of a regionally integrated approach to Maternity services provision and work alongside Northern district clinical leads, co-leading transformation and implementing a regional Network plan to achieve national target/s, quality metrics, priorities and outcomes.
· Embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi as fundamental to the mahi we provide, address inequities that are within our system, and deliver improved outcomes for the whānau and communities we serve including Māori, Pacific, Asian and other ethnic communities
· Effective liaison and leadership for regional Maternity service issues referred from senior leaders.
· Provide evidence based clinical advice and system thinking to support future planning

More about you:
You are a medical specialist holding a current Annual Practicing Certificate and vocational registration in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialty. Your previous roles provide significant knowledge, strategic and senior leadership experience across Obstetrics & Gynaecology and related Maternity services within a large, multifaceted healthcare environment.

This ‘expression of interest’ will be released through Health NZ sites and district leadership to support an open and transparent process. Potential candidates are asked to send a covering letter to the Office of the Executive Regional Director () by 11 December 2025 regarding:
