As the Materials Supervisor at RAM Aviation, Space & Defense, you will lead the daily operations of the stockroom, tool crib, and shipping/receiving departments-ensuring materials flow efficiently and accurately to support production and on-time delivery. This role is both hands-on and strategic, driving continuous improvement through lean material handling, kitting strategies, and optimized shipping methods. You'll supervise and develop a high-performing team, implement process improvements, and collaborate cross-functionally to support RAM's mission of delivering precision aerospace components. With a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and leadership, you'll play a key role in transforming material management into a competitive advantage.
Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise and oversee the performance of the those who work in the stock room, tool crib, and shipping/receiving.
Obtain a functional, working knowledge of the processing in each department, and work where needed with employees to keep each department caught up with expected levels of performance.
Develop and suggest changes to process specs for each department as needed.
Prepare performance evaluations for employees in the above-mentioned departments; provide frequent feedback on the performance of each employee supervised, and arrange training as needed for them to develop new skills to fulfill their responsibilities.
Analyze product packaging requirements and shipping carriers to assure product is delivered safely yet as inexpensively as possible.
Solve problems for employees that come up outside of normal workflow.
Work with managers of other departments to find best-overall solutions for RAM.
Obtain a working knowledge of Syteline and RAM's inventory system.
Become familiar with RAM's product, including item details, and processes.
Prepare and maintain reports tracking key metrics for each department, noting critical trends.
Have knowledge of inventory turns, and work to improve with the VP of Business Development and Purchasing Manager.
Set an example of hard work and dedication to continuous improvement, efficiency, and a successful working environment through lean initiatives.
Requirements
Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
1-3 years related job experience.
Must be proficient in operation of a computer and using Microsoft office.
Lift/Carry 10-50lbs
Must be able to sit and stand often
