Job Title: Phlebotomist Floater

Location: Columbus, OH

Duration: 4+ Months (Possibility of Extension)

Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Position Summary

The Phlebotomist III – Float represents the face of our organization to patients visiting our facilities for routine health checks or critical diagnostic needs. This role involves drawing high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while adhering to established protocols. The Phlebotomist III – Float ensures patient comfort, builds trust, and explains procedures clearly, performing collections skillfully and safely.

This position requires flexibility to provide coverage across multiple locations and roles, ensuring smooth operations at Patient Service Centers (PSC), In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP), Mobile, and Long-Term Care settings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors, process excellence, and maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.

Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and capillary collections on patients of all ages (pediatric, adult, geriatric).

Float between multiple sites to provide coverage and maintain operational efficiency.

Act as a mentor, coach, and resource for new employees; assist with onboarding and training.

Serve as point of contact for staff on-site and provide feedback to supervisors.

Handle complex or high-volume practices requiring advanced phlebotomy skills and strong customer service.

Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Lab Services, IT, Billing, Logistics) for specialized or complex test orders.

Ensure timely and accurate completion of daily activities in PSC/IOP/Mobile settings.

Maintain compliance with safety standards and confidentiality protocols.

Required Education

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Medical training preferred (Medical Assistant or Paramedic).

Phlebotomy certification preferred; mandatory in CA, NV, and WA.

Work Experience

Minimum 5 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

At least 3 years in PSC/IOP environment preferred.

Customer service experience in retail or healthcare setting preferred.

Proficiency in keyboard/data entry.
