We seek versatile individuals to support our core operations.General Purpose

The Feedyard Floater performs a variety of essential duties across the feedlot, providing critical support to different departments as needed. This versatile position ensures smooth, efficient operation of the feedyard by covering tasks related to animal health, maintenance, feed delivery, and pen cleaning.

Duties and Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, every employee must prioritize Animal Health & Welfare, Employee Safety, and Overall Productivity.

Animal Health and Handling

Assist the Cattle Doctor/Processing Crew with processing, treating, and vaccinating cattle.

Observe cattle for signs of illness or injury daily; accurately pull sick animals from pens.

Handle and move cattle humanely, safely, and efficiently in various feedlot areas (alleys, tubs, chutes).

Maintain accurate treatment records and inventory logs.

Maintenance and Yard Work

Operate skid steers, loaders, tractors, and other heavy equipment for various tasks.

Clean and maintain pens, alleys, aprons, and drainage areas.

Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, fences, gates, water tanks, and facilities.

Assist with general grounds keeping and upkeep of the feedyard service sheds and facilities.

Feeding and Support

Assist the Feeder with daily feed delivery, including mixing rations and loading the feed truck.

Cover the feeding route, if necessary, ensuring consistent and timely delivery of feed to all pens according to schedule and established protocols.

Monitor bunks for feed calls and adjustments, communicating any issues immediately to the Feeder or Manager.

General

Report to work on time each day and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.

Promote a sense of teamwork, camaraderie, and a safety-conscious work environment.

RequirementsMinimum Qualifications

Prior experience working in a cattle feedyard or agricultural setting is strongly preferred.

Experience or strong willingness to learn safe and humane cattle handling techniques.

Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to operate heavy equipment (skid steer, tractor, loader).

Driven, organized, action-oriented, and ability to multi-task and transition between tasks quickly.

Individual must be team oriented and possess strong communication skills.

Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions and work rotating schedules, which may include weekends and holidays.Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, walk, climb, stoop, and bend for extended periods.

Must be able to meet physical demands for heavy labor in a dusty, agricultural environment.

Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. routinely.Dress and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Must wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear for a ranch/feedyard environment.

Must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and gloves, as mandated by the task or company policy.

Work Environment

The majority of work is performed outdoors and requires working in all weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity, wind).

Exposure to manure, dust, noise, vehicle fumes, and odors is expected.

The work environment is often loud and requires high attention to safety around moving machinery and livestock.
