Mathematics Tutorial Center Staff - S26
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Mathematics Tutorial Center is to provide academic support in quantitative subjects to all students enrolled at Winthrop University. Our staff creates an open atmosphere of learning for students who would like to improve their academic success in mathematics.
Duties and Responsibilities
Mathematics Tutorial Center staff provide individual and/or small group tutoring to students to help them improve their math skills by teaching them how to perform the calculations needed to complete homework and prepare for tests, review class material, and help clarify and/or reinforce course content.
Qualifications
• A grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.0 or higher
• An A or B grade in the course(s) to be tutored
• A completed Mathematics Faculty Recommendation for Employment form

• Ability to develop positive rapport with students
• Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
