Primary Purpose:
Supervise students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS) and the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP). Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate
Completed a formal academic assessment, an associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
Or must obtain a valid Educational Aide III certification***
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
Ability to work well with children
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to use a personal computer
Experience:
Some experience working with children (preferably in a school, childcare setting)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Work with certified teachers and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured environment.
Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teachers.
Consult with classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy.
Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return them to classroom teachers.
Manage student behavior.
Record student attendance.
Maintain confidentiality.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Principal and ISS/DAEP Teacher.
Maintain accurate personal attendance records by utilizing Frontline Time and Attendance. Supervisory Responsibilities:
