Position Overview

The 30+ year company supports the petrochemical and manufacturing industry domestically and internationally and is positioned along the Gulf Coast providing training, occupational medicine, and innovative solutions to industry.

The Facilities Maintenance Attendant I performs jobs including but not limited to, preventative maintenance, and janitorial tasks. This position operates a variety of hand/power cleaning tools and performs related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate would be careful and thorough in their work, aiding in the maintenance of the facility, cleaning and tidying the premises with great care, and keeping an eye on detail.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Daily General Cleaning & Sanitization

Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building and trailers.

Sweeping, mopping floors, and vacuuming carpets

Sanitize / dust horizontal surfaces of chairs, tables, desks, and other types of furniture as needed.

Restroom cleaning and maintenance

Ensuring spaces are ready for the next day, including taking out the trash, tidying, and rearranging furniture

Other duties as assigned.

Periodic Deep Cleaning & Sanitization

Buff / scrub hard surface floors

Shampoo and clean carpets

Sanitize & polish brass and chrome fixtures

Other duties as assigned

Exterior Cleaning

General outdoor maintenance such as sweeping area, cleaning glass, monitoring and maintaining the parking lot as needed

Washes windows

Other duties as assigned

Facility Maintenance

Conducts daily building inspections and walkthrough.

Participate in snow and ice removal, generator maintenance and other seasonal needs.

Other duties as assigned.

Safety & Organization

Safely operates equipment, following the proper safety standards and procedures

Keeps accurate, detailed and timely maintenance records for all activities

Aware of their surroundings and avoid situations that could cause damage to property or to others

Education and/or Experience

This position is a progression of maintenance technician/ handyman jobs leading to a more senior maintenance position. No prior experience or specific education level is needed. Preferred requirements for this job may include carpentry certification, a degree or 1 years' experience in similar or like position. Other experience considered as a maintenance technician or handyman.

Language Skills

Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Individuals with the ability to speak Spanish are beneficial.

Reasoning Ability/ Decision Making

Ability to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Technical Skills/Knowledge

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and lifting. The employee may lift and move items up to 50 pounds, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This job operates in a combination of office and shop environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to dust, odors, fumes and/or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions such as extreme heat or extreme cold. Travel may be required.

Reporting Responsibilities

The Facilities Maintenance Attendant I reports directly to the Operations Process Manager. This position does not have direct reports.
