The Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic works with faculties and service units across the university to provide an outstanding education for SFU students and a productive research environment for faculty. Our team in financial and budget management provides leadership and support for financial and budget related issues within the Office of the Provost and VPA and to areas within the Provost's portfolio.
About the Role
The Budget Coordinator assists with the day-to-day management of the operating, capital, endowment, research, and specific purpose funds administered by the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic (VPA). The incumbent acts as the first point of contact for all financial and budgetary matters and provides advice to senior admin, managers and staff within the Office of the Provost and VPA's portfolio. The incumbent prepares and completes documents related to financial transactions, which can include fund and budget transfers and maintains financial database systems. He or she acts as a resource on all financial matters relating to eligible travel and business expenditures and provides advice on travel and expense policy guidelines. The Budget Coordinator assists with the annual budget preparation and the implementation of financial activities within the Office of the Provost and VPA.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and three years of related experience which includes experience in financial administration or accounting, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must have excellent financial, budget management, administration, and accounting skills.
Able to work in a team environment with good communication skills.
Ability to work independently including good time management and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and interpret and apply policies and procedures.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and other financial management systems such as FAST, Hyperion, HAP.
