PCB Prototyping Technician

Position Title: PCB Prototyping Technician

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract PCB Prototyping Technician opportunity located in Northridge, Los Angeles, CA.

Job Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain LPKF ProtoLaser systems for structuring conductive tracks, drilling, and depaneling.

Prepare manufacturing data from CAD files using LPKF software (e.g., CircuitPro).

Perform lamination, stencil creation, PCB layout, and prototyping.

Work with reflow ovens, stencil printers, pick & place machines, AOI/X-Ray inspection, BGA rework stations, and conformal coating equipment.

Document standard work processes for setup and programming, and train backup personnel as needed.

Manage the end-to-end PCB manufacturing process: data prep, machine setup, operation, inspection, and rework as required.

Job Qualifications:

5+ years of hands-on experience in PCB prototyping, manufacturing, or advanced technician roles.

Strong understanding of surface mount technology (SMT) and PCB fabrication processes.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment and optimize workflows.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with design and engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience programming and setting up SMT production equipment, including wave-solder or selective solder processes.

Knowledge of PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCad, Mentor Graphics), including stackup selection, routing, and DFM considerations.

Harness design/building experience.

Familiarity with soldering and assembly standards (J-STD-001).

Experience with chemical polymerics (conformal coat, staking, bonding)

Pay Rate Range: $40-50/hr
