Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with oncology experience and rotating 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital Med/Surg Tele unit with an adult and geriatric oncology patient population

Care for patients diagnosed with various cancers, including endometrial, bladder, renal, ovarian, and cervical cancers

Specialized oncology treatments provided, including chemotherapy, clinical trials, brachytherapy, and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)

Staffing ratios target 1:4, may adjust to 1:5 depending on unit needs

12-hour day/night rotating shifts may be scheduled as day, night, or a combination depending on department needs

Orientation includes one week on day shift followed by 36 hours of on-unit precepted orientation

Utilizes Epic for computerized charting; experience preferred

Key responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, participating in clinical trials, providing neobladder care, implementing infection prevention protocols, and monitoring telemetry readings

Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and responds to rapid response events as needed

Responsible for feeding tube care, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line maintenance

First week of orientation is dayshift, followed by on-unit orientation with preceptor support

Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs

No set or blocked scheduling; self-schedule requests are accommodated as able

RTO (requested time off) must be built into the contract at the time of submission

Former employees are eligible after a 6-month break in service; current employees of Ohio State University hospitals are not eligible

Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers

Strict compliance with Ohio fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly upon contract signing

Requirements

Active OH or compact RN license in hand

Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Proficiency in telemetry nursing with the ability to interpret dysrhythmias

Experience administering chemotherapy and performing oncology-specific procedures

Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program

At least 2 professional references required, including one from a supervisor or manager

ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
