Dental Hygienist Responsibilities

Promote dental health by performing prophylaxis, oral cancer screenings, and radiographs

Chart conditions of decay, disease, and oral health concerns

Prepare and welcome patients for dental hygiene procedures

Educate patients and answer oral health questions

Maintain, sterilize, and select instruments and materials

Remove deposits and stains from teeth and below gum margins

Detect periodontal disease and assess recession using probes

Apply fluoride and other preventive agents to arrest dental decay

Requirements

Active Ohio dental hygiene license

Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology

Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards

Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively
