Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Material Handler to join our team at a busy production facility specializing in Sign and Architectural products. This role is crucial for managing the flow of inventory. The primary duties involve the safe operation of a forklift to unload, move, and organize large and heavy materials throughout the facility and outdoor storage yard. The ideal candidate will be adept at high-volume material handling, maintaining accurate inventory records, and providing essential support to both the Receiving and Production departments.

Key Responsibilities

Material Transport & Equipment Operation:

Safely and efficiently operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, etc.) and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport materials.

Unload large incoming shipments from semi-trucks and box trucks daily.

Lift and move items weighing up to and occasionally exceeding 50 lbs., as required by the job.

Production Support:

Accurately pull inventory and deliver materials to specific production areas based on job or production orders.

Collaborate with team members and departments to ensure smooth material flow and operational efficiency.

Inventory & Receiving:

Perform daily inventory cycle counts and actively assist with overall inventory organization and tracking.

Inspect incoming shipments for damage and verify the accuracy of materials against packing slips and purchase orders.

Promptly report inventory discrepancies or concerns (e.g., damage, incorrect quantities) to the Logistics/Inventory Management.

Provide backup support for internal parts/supply stockroom operations, including receiving, stocking, and issuing components.

Safety & Organization:

Follow all company policies and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment at all times.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard and work area, ensuring debris, trash, and unused materials are promptly removed or disposed of. Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Certification & Experience:

Valid forklift certification is required.

Strong, proven experience operating various forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, etc.).

Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or large Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) environment is strongly preferred.

Physical Demands:

Ability to safely lift 50+ lbs. regularly.

Ability to regularly perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for long periods.

Skills:

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential for inventory accuracy.

Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management systems (e.g., barcode scanners, warehouse management software).

Good communication skills and the ability to clearly follow both written and verbal directions.

Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team. Work Environment

The role involves working primarily in an outdoor yard setting, with occasional indoor responsibilities.

High exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Consistent operation of heavy machinery (forklifts and pallet jacks).

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $20.00 - $23.00
