Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (Travel)

Shift: 3 12 Nights
Pay: $2,127.60/week
Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Position Overview
ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel contract in Columbus, Ohio. This unit specializes in lower-acuity cardiac and surgical progressive care, caring for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular procedures such as CABG, TAVR, stents, and grafts. The ideal candidate has strong cardiac telemetry and step-down experience, is proficient in Epic, and is comfortable floating within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver skilled nursing care to progressive care and cardiac surgical patients
Monitor telemetry, arterial lines, and hemodynamic stability for patients post-CABG, valve repair, and vascular procedures
Administer medications and manage cardiac, heparin, and insulin drips (non-titration)
Provide wound, drain, and chest tube management, as well as TR band and sheath removal when needed
Perform IV starts, blood product administration, and central/PICC line maintenance
Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic EMR
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care
Float to other PCU or telemetry units as needed
Maintain patient safety standards, infection control, and proper equipment use
Qualifications
Active Ohio RN license or Compact State RN license (required)
Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
Minimum 2 years of recent PCU experience (required)
Cardiac experience preferred
Certifications required: BLS and ACLS (AHA)
Epic EMR experience required
Skills required: IV start, telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, central line and sheath management, wound vac, and oxygen therapy
Previous travel experience preferred
Must be able to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required
Compliance with Ohio fingerprinting requirements — candidate must complete fingerprints promptly upon signing the contract
