UW Bothell offers student employment opportunities to help prepare students by providing practical work experience. Students are provided professional development and mentoring to develop skills to support post-graduation employment preparation and success.
A squad member for Holly the Husky is a student employment position within the University of Washington Bothell. Each squad member will be trained to serve in two main roles for the Holly the Husky mascot program - as a performer and a handler. Squad members will perform as Holly the Husky while in the suit, serve as a handler which assists the performer, and provide customer service to both student groups and university departments who request Holly the Husky at events.
Job Duties
Perform as Holly the Husky while wearing the Holly suit at university events.
Provide support and direction to Holly while acting as the handler.
Provide excellent customer service by arriving to events on time and ready to perform.
Care for the Holly suit which requires regular maintenance, grooming and storing properly.
Arrive at appearances with enthusiasm, ready to spread school spirit and entertain. Qualifications
Requirements
Must be enrolled at UW during employment dates (minimum credits = 6)
Must have and maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 prior to and throughout their employment
Contribute professionally and respectfully to our diverse and inclusive work environment
Ability to perform duties and take initiative with little supervision
Ability to connect and interact with people both as Holly and as a handler in a positive and engaging way
Must attend all trainings and team meetings:
Holly Squad Information Session which will take place between October 9 - October 13. Time and date of this session will be determined by class schedules. We will choose a date that works for the most applicants, if not everyone.
Holly's Squad Onboarding Training which will occur between the dates of October 17th - October 19th. More info to come soon!
Quarterly Pack Meetings scheduled based on class schedules Working Environment
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to move and perform while wearing a costume that weighs up to 25 lbs.
COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT
Governor Inslee'sProclamation 21-14.4requires employees (including student employees) of higher education and healthcare institutions to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees are required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.
