Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position caring for oncology patients with proficiency in chemotherapy and telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities

Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit providing care to adult and geriatric oncology patients

Care for patients diagnosed with cancers such as endometrial, bladder, renal, ovarian, and cervical

Treatments include chemotherapy, clinical trials, brachytherapy, and CBI

Nursing ratios aim for 1:4, with a maximum of 1:5 based on unit needs

12-hour day and night rotating shifts with the possibility of both days and nights

Self-scheduling requests may be accommodated to balance preferences and unit requirements

First week orientation is Monday to Friday dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor

EPIC is used for charting and documentation

Primary responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, participating in clinical trials, and performing specialized oncology procedures

Focus on infection prevention and patient falls management

Team collaboration is emphasized with interdisciplinary support and utilization of rapid response teams

Must complete mandatory fingerprinting process per Ohio state requirements

Self-scheduling requests and requested time off must be communicated at time of contract and are built into the assignment

Locals are accepted at the same rate

Scrub color or dress code requirements not specified

Requirements

Active OH or compact state RN license in hand at time of consideration

Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Must have completed nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program

Proficiency in telemetry, ability to interpret dysrhythmias, and provide appropriate nursing interventions

Experience administering chemotherapy and performing oncology-specific procedures is required

Preferred: ONS Chemotherapy certification

Two professional references required, including one from a supervisor, manager, or formal leader

Former employees eligible after a 6-month break; current employees ineligible
