This is a succession role designed to work closely alongside our current Director of Compliance, then to step into the full leadership position upon their retirement.This is more than a job—it's a career path.About the RoleAs our new Customs Compliance Specialist, you will:Partner closely with the Director of Compliance to ensure our operations meet all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards.Step into a supervisory role right away, leading the Compliance department’s administrative staff.Serve as a subject matter expert in Customs Tariff classification across a variety of industries.Review and validate tariff classifications, valuation, origin declarations, and overall regulatory compliance.Communicate directly with clients to clarify customs requirements and provide tailored compliance advice.Support internal training initiatives, assist with audit preparation, and help document internal procedures.Collaborate with other departments to strengthen quality assurance and streamline processes.Bring a team-first mindset, offering support to Senior Raters and cross-functional teams as needed.Be a go-to resource for internal teams looking for guidance on customs rules and procedures.Take an active role in a planned succession strategy, transitioning into broader responsibilities over time.Who We AreWe’re Border Brokers — a dynamic and technologically progressive Canadian customs brokerage, consulting, and freight forwarding organization with nearly 40 years of industry experience.
