Engineer – Manufacturing (Plastics/Extrusion) Location: GTA Full-Time Straight Day Shift (Flexible start between 7:00–8:30am, 8.5 hr shifts)We’re seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with hands-on plastics and extrusion experience to join a growing production environment.

If you’re passionate about solving problems, reducing costs, and improving quality, this role offers both challenge and impact.What You’ll DoApply engineering techniques to install, modify, analyze, and improve production equipment (extrusion, bag machines, press operations).Develop, evaluate, and optimize manufacturing methods with a focus on efficiency, quality, and cost savings.Troubleshoot and monitor reliability of equipment; implement corrective actions and preventive maintenance strategies.Act as a technical resource (SME) to train operators, helpers, packers, and supervisors.Collaborate across production, quality, and maintenance teams to implement new procedures, layouts, and process improvements.Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, CAD layouts, and CMMS tools.Research equipment failures, recommend solutions, and support long-term reliability strategies.Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and CAD layouts to support equipment changes and process enhancements.
MUST HAVE RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering with Engineering Certificate and 2–4 years of manufacturing engineering experience.Hands-on experience with extrusion, bag machines, and press operations, with a strong focus on process optimization and equipment reliability.Plastics/extrusion industry background – required to bring relevant process knowledge and troubleshooting capability.Proficiency with Lean, Six Sigma, CAD layout software, and CMMS for process improvements, cost savings, labour optimization, and quality enhancement.Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs created by others to support equipment layouts and modifications.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to identify and implement efficiency improvements in production and quality processes.
Assets (Nice to Have)Direct experience in blown film extrusion processes (considered a strong asset).Hands-on CAD design experience (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) for fixture/tooling design and equipment layouts.Exposure to related manufacturing sectors (automotive, aerospace, packaging) demonstrating transferable process improvement skills.Experience training and supporting operators, helpers, and supervisors as a subject matter expert (SME).Proven track record with quality improvement initiatives tied to measurable performance outcomes.Flexibility to provide on-floor technical support in urgent/emergency situations outside of standard straight-day shifts.This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to be hands-on on the floor, partner with cross-functional teams, and make a direct impact on efficiency, quality, and growth.
