Rectangle Design Inc. is a fast-paced urban residential design-build firm based in Calgary. Founded in 2005, we’ve completed more than 200 custom homes, townhouses, and major renovations. Our model is rooted in accountability: we are as committed to the progressive design of our work as we are to the quality of its construction and the relationships we build with our clients.

We are growing and looking for an Intermediate Architectural Technologist with 3+ years of residential experience to join our team.

The Role

You will work closely with both our Design and Construction teams to manage and deliver high-quality residential projects. From permit applications to working drawings, your expertise will ensure that design intent, bylaw compliance, and construction quality align seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and submit City of Calgary Development Permit and Building Permit application sets

Produce detailed contract and working drawing sets, including floor plans, elevations, details, and specifications

Maintain and update construction drawings through project phases

Coordinate with designers, project managers, and subtrades to ensure accuracy and buildability

Support project schedules and manage documentation flow between design and construction teams

What We’re Looking For

3+ years of residential architectural/technologist experience

Strong knowledge of City of Calgary Bylaws and the National Building Code

Proficiency in CAD software

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance quality with budget and schedule

Clear communicator with strong written and verbal skills

Must be currently based in Calgary (we are not considering relocation applicants)
