We are currently seeking an Inbound Logistics and Warehouse Operations Specialist to join the onsite Mercedes-Benz Australia Global Customer Service and Parts (GCSP) Logistics Operations Division. The team collectively manages our impressive 28,000 square metre National Logistics Centre located in Laverton North, Melbourne where the role is based.
By joining our team, you will be involved in all aspects of the operation including warehousing, transportation and supplier management. The role has plenty of variety with a focus on inbound warehouse operations, process optimisation and Quality, Environmental and Sustainability Management.
Our ideal candidate will be ready to be immersed in the logistics and supply chain operations of a large iconic brand and moreover, excited to get hands on in a fast paced, multi-faceted operation.
Given the enormity of the LC operation, the Inbound Logistics and Warehouse Operations Specialist is required to:
· Play a pivotal role in optimising our logistics operations.
· Provide the necessary support to the Mercedes-Benz internal and external customer network, stakeholders and suppliers to ensure customer expectations and internal targets are met.
· Ensure that Mercedes-Benz Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers are meeting their contractual requirements, key performance indicators and service levels.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data management and automation solutions into existing systems.
· Logistics Planning: Develop and implement logistics strategies to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Monitor and analyse logistics processes to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
· Compliance: Ensure all logistics activities comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Stay updated on changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
· Data Analysis: Utilise data analytics to monitor logistics performance. Generate reports and provide insights to management on key metrics and trends.
· Problem Resolution: Address and resolve logistics issues promptly and effectively. Implement solutions to prevent recurrence and improve overall operations.
· Compliance: Ensure all processes adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.
· Successfully complete the day-to-day functions and operations at the LC and provide the necessary support and guidance to 3PL’s and team members.
· Support the timely communication to all retailers with a customer first mindset and approach.
As the Logistics and Warehouse Operations Specialist your key responsibilities include:
Inbound Warehouse Operations & 3rd Party Logistics Provider (3PL) Coordination
· Manage inbound warehouse operations and 3PL performance to ensure all KPIs, schedules, and urgent priorities are met.
· Oversee 3PL invoicing, verification, and stakeholder communication relating to inbound performance.
· Drive efficient utilisation of 3PL resources and support operational layout improvements.
· Conduct monthly audits of inbound procedures, ensuring compliance with GCSP standards and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
· Act as the system subject matter expert for the Inbound Warehouse Management module and operate additional logistics system modules as required.
· Coordinate and support 3PL providers, including contract management assistance, issue escalation, and leading regular operational meetings.
Quality and Environmental Management & Sustainability
· Manage and coordinate Quality & Environmental Management (QEM) processes, including audits and compliance checks.
· Support sustainability requirements and contribute to maintaining ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).
What you will need to be successful
· Strong Customer-first approach with strong decision-making skills.
· You’ll be a team player, organized, friendly, have a relationship styled approach in dealing with suppliers and customers with a can-do attitude.
· Be able to manage your own workload and able to multi-task
· Exceptional attention to detail and analytical mindset towards Logistics operations.
· Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
· Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field is highly desirable.
· Warehousing and Transport Operations experience
· SAP, ERP, Warehouse Management System (WMS) and inventory systems knowledge and experience highly desirable
· Warehouse management, inventory, freight management and 3rd party freight system tracking knowledge highly regarded
· Intermediate proficiency in Power BI, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
· Packaging and Vehicle Parts knowledge highly regarded
· Warehouse OH&S knowledge highly regarded
