Opportunity for a Research Fellow to conduct epidemiological research in maternal and perinatal health

Base Salary $127,436 (Pro rata) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Child Population and Translational Research team are seeking a Research Fellow to provide clinical expertise and lead research projects related to maternal and perinatal health. This position will be based at the University of Sydney Camperdown campus.

Your responsibilities will be to:

conduct original research independently and collaboratively, producing high-quality publications and contributing to competitive funding applications.

provide clinical obstetric expertise particularly in areas of high-risk pregnancies, perinatal loss, clinical studies

maintain an active research profile through peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and other scholarly outputs.

develop research collaborations and engage in translational research that drives knowledge transfer, and improvements to policy, practice, or community outcomes.

supervise postgraduate research students and provide informal mentoring to early-career researchers where appropriate.

contribute to school and faculty operations through effective administration, active participation in meetings, and alignment with strategic priorities.

engage with industry, professional networks, and public forums to communicate research expertise and support broader community and sector impact.

About you, you will have:

A degree in Medicine (Obstetrics specialty) and postgraduate qualifications in clinical epidemiology, biostatistics or related degree

expertise in maternal and perinatal health research, with demonstrated experience conducting clinical research studies

demonstrated experience leading and contributing to original research, supported by multiple publications with a developing research profile

demonstrated ability to contribute to competitive research funding applications and deliver measurable research impact

strong ability to communicate effectively, including delivering presentations with clarity and professionalism.

well-developed planning, organisation, and computer literacy skills that support high-quality research and academic output.

proven experience supervising or mentoring junior researchers and building productive relationships across academic, industry, and professional networks.

Work Rights
