Role:
Our client is a Data Product Manager to execute and optimize data products on their B2B data marketplace platform. You'll be responsible for managing the product lifecycle of data solutions that connect data sellers with enterprise buyers seeking actionable insights.
This role requires strong data product capabilities, effective stakeholder coordination, and the ability to execute in the technical and business environment of a two-sided marketplace.
Reporting to the Head of Data Product Growth, you'll work closely with established frameworks and processes while developing your strategic product leadership capabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for a product manager with strong technical data skills to grow into a senior role.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Product Strategy & Execution
Execute on the data product roadmap, contributing to strategy development under guidance of the Head of Data Product Growth
Manage assigned data product categories or seller portfolios, ensuring quality, accessibility, and monetization success
Conduct technical evaluations of data seller assets within your portfolio, including data quality analysis, schema assessment, and integration feasibility
Design and execute experiments to optimize data product performance using analytics and statistical methods
Collaborate within product squads including data scientists, data engineers, and software engineers to deliver data solutions
Discovery & Opportunity Development
Conduct data discovery sessions with potential data sellers using established frameworks and templates
Identify monetization opportunities that align seller data with buyer needs within your assigned focus areas
Contribute to use case ideation across diverse industries and buyer personas
Support business case development by articulating value propositions and revenue potential
Product Development & Delivery
Create detailed technical requirements and specifications for data pipelines, APIs, and integration workflows
Coordinate delivery of data products by working with Data Science, Data Engineering, UI/UX, and Engineering teams
Build rapid prototypes to validate market demand and technical feasibility using provided tools and templates
Translate business requirements into actionable technical specifications
Work within established sprint cycles and agile processes
Stakeholder & Client Management
Manage day-to-day relationships with data seller clients for your assigned portfolio
Collaborate with Growth and Platform Development teams on opportunities and delivery
Present data solutions to both technical and business audiences
Escalate complex stakeholder issues and strategic decisions to Head of Data Product Growth
Participate in joint meetings for high-value or complex seller relationships
Data Governance & Quality
Ensure all data products meet enterprise-grade security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
Implement monitoring and validation for data products within your portfolio
Apply data governance frameworks across your assigned data sellers and products
Maintain documentation and quality standards
Required Qualifications & Skills
Product Management Foundation
3-5 years professional experience in data-related roles (data engineering, data science, business intelligence, or data product management)
4-6 years product management experience or demonstrated product thinking and delivery in data/analytics roles
Experience working with cross-functional technical teams throughout product development
Ability to frame problems and opportunities through business and user value lenses
Exposure to B2B software or enterprise data environments
Technical & Data Expertise
Strong SQL proficiency and comfort with data analysis (required)
Solid understanding of data pipeline concepts, data quality, and integration patterns
Basic knowledge of API design and data delivery mechanisms
Awareness of machine learning and statistical modelling applications
Understanding of data governance principles and privacy regulations (GDPR, POPIA)
Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure Synapse Analytics preferred)
Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI highly desirable)
Product & Business Skills
Experience with prototyping and lean product development approaches
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Understanding of data monetization strategies and pricing models
Strong analytical and quantitative decision-making skills
Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or related field

Python or Spark programming skills
Prior product management experience in B2B SaaS or data platforms
Solutions architecture experience or interest in developing these capabilities
Experience with marketplace or platform business models
Knowledge of alternative data industry and financial services applications
Experience in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare)
Familiarity with data contracts, SLAs, and enterprise data agreements
Azure certifications or willingness to pursue certification
Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field
