Maintenance Manager
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for interpreting the customer requirement for Class availability and capability into a robust and detailed work package, aimed at fully optimising all categories of maintenance though informed analysis of performance and defect trends and review of the material state.
The Maintenance Manager maintains and reports an up-to-date and accurate assessment of platform material state within sphere of responsibility. Responsible for optimising the delivery of support and working with peers to ensure that the development of parallel work packages is deconflicted. To ensure effective partnering between Ship Staff, the COM Team and external support providers by maintaining open communications on all operational and technical issues relating to the material state of the Class, and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a platform engineering discipline (ME, WE, Aux or L). Identifies areas for improvement of the Class Support solution.
Your main responsibilities as a Maintenance Manager will involve:
· Translate the Class maintenance strategy into a Platform-level plan, capturing the short- and medium-term needs of the Customer and COM
· Manage capture of Customer requirements and translate this into a targeted work package.
· Translate the Class Maintenance policy into a Platform specific optimisation plan, representing maintenance team in cost/benefit analysis discussion to ensure the planning and delivery of future maintenance periods and maintenance schedules are as optimal as feasibly possible
· Maintain complete understanding of Class/Platform Material State and present status and rationale for status as part of Class Management reporting through to KPI/PI adherence along with PWR/EOFTSP/MSP
· Manage and deliver Platform maintenance status to the COM Team Leader for the Joint Planning purposes, including inherent underlying risk to the work package and maintenance period
· Work with the WTA to identify maintenance opportunities and deconflict scope, to enable effective ‘right first time’ planning of Capability Insertion.
· Manage and oversee the compilation of targeted and accurate work packages by the COM Maintenance Engineers, ensuring previous LfE is reflected
· Manage work package compilation to ensure Hull and Machinery remain in Class with Lloyds Register, or seek appropriate concession form the Classification society as appropriate
· Undertake effective internal and external stakeholder management with Senior Management within BAE Systems, across the wider COM environment and with management teams of Customers / Partners / Suppliers.
· Support the Platform Manager to ensure that the Customer’s annual budget is correctly targeted
· Produce or manage the provision of Maintenance responses pertaining to concessions, OPDEF / DEFREP and Technical Queries (S2022s, etc.), in line with delegations
· Address Technical Queries (S2022s, etc.) within maintenance scope for the Class or designated platform / systems, as required, communicating to the COM WTA
· Plan, manage and coordinate Test and Trials requirements with the Maintenance Engineering team and COM WTA, and present solution to the Platform Manager
· Manage planning and coordination of Work Package Advisory Visits (WPAVs).
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential:
· Knowledge and experience in the Maritime Sector and/or in dealing with Ministry of Defence / Military Customer base.
· Good understanding of MoD/industry policy and process in the Maintenance Engineering environment
· Appropriate engineering management experience
· Knowledge and application of BAE Systems Lifecycle Management Framework and the Engineering Lifecycle
· Be aware of and adhere to BAE Systems Maritime Services policies and procedures and maintain compliance with statutory regulations (including those of Information Systems, Safety Health & Environment and Security Requirements).
· Ability to communicate clearly across Business Streams & Project boundaries, and work effectively at all levels in the organisation.
· Ability to take on tasks independently, provide added value and constructively challenge with confidence & respect if needed.
· Skilled in understanding the needs and demands of a diverse group of stakeholders so as to develop strong relationships & trust across the business.
· Skilled in effectively assigning/delegating resources to manage internal activities and to then manage for completion on time, to cost and specification, including appropriate adherence to business processes.
Solid understanding of ILS Principles (especially RCM) and / or UMMS experience preferable.
· Degree/HND qualified or equivalent experience.
· Significant and varied working knowledge and experience of Maintenance Engineering in a complex engineering business.
Likely to hold professional Engineer status with a recognised body in a relevant discipline.

Grade: Portsmouth/Hybrid 3 days per week onsite, with the flexibility to move to 5 days per week when required
