We are seeking a skilled and motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) with experience or interest in physiatry to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to work autonomously, develop strong clinical relationships, and be part of an innovative practice shaping the future of rehabilitative medicine in Virginia.
Position Overview
The Nurse Practitioner – Physiatry will provide comprehensive patient evaluations, follow-up visits, care coordination, and clinical documentation in collaboration with attending physiatrists. This is a full-time 1099 contractor role, with flexible scheduling options and a required once-monthly weekend rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily patient rounds, evaluations, and follow-up visits in inpatient rehabilitation and/or post-acute care settings.
Develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans in collaboration with the physiatry team.
Document all clinical encounters in compliance with regulatory and billing requirements.
Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members including nursing, therapy, case management, and physicians.
Participate in one required weekend coverage shift per month.
Maintain high standards of patient care, professionalism, and clinical judgment.
Provide timely responses to clinical inquiries and support the care team as needed.
Schedule Options
Candidates may choose one of the following full-time options:
5 8-hour days (Monday–Friday)
4 10-hour days (Flexible schedule)
1 weekend per month required
Compensation can be structured as either per diem or salary, depending on preference and experience.
Qualifications
Active and unencumbered Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Virginia.
Board certified NP (FNP, AGNP, or ACNP preferred).
Experience in physiatry, rehab, internal medicine, acute care, or geriatrics preferred, but not required—training available.
Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a rehabilitative or post-acute setting.
Compassionate bedside manner and commitment to patient-centered care.
