Solicitor – Strategic Projects & Transactions

ScottishPower HQ

Competitive Salary + Annual Bonus + Family Healthcare + Car Allowance

Be the legal force behind the energy transition.

At ScottishPower, we’re driving the transformation to a cleaner, smarter, and more secure energy future. As part of this mission, we’re looking for a talented Solicitor to join our Strategic Projects & Transactions legal team—where your expertise will help shape the future.

This is more than a legal role. It’s a chance to influence high-impact decisions, support landmark transactions, and collaborate with senior leaders across ScottishPower and our global parent company, Iberdrola.

What makes this role exciting

You’ll be at the centre of strategic legal activity, advising on corporate M&A, joint ventures, and transformational commercial projects.

You’ll work directly with executive management and senior stakeholders, helping to steer the legal direction of our most critical initiatives.

You’ll be the key legal interface between ScottishPower and Iberdrola, ensuring seamless collaboration across borders and business units.

You’ll help shape legal strategy, manage risk, and unlock opportunities that accelerate our journey to net zero.

What you’ll be doing

Lead and deliver legal support across strategic projects and transactions

Act as subject matter expert on M&A, joint ventures, and corporate activities

Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements

Provide clear, commercial legal advice to senior stakeholders

Identify and manage legal risks across the ScottishPower/Iberdrola Group

What you’ll bring

We welcome applications from both rising stars and seasoned professionals. To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

A current UK practicing certificate and LLB (or equivalent)

Strong experience in a corporate/commercial law role

Proven expertise in M&A, joint ventures, or strategic transactions—ideally within the energy sector

Experience in a leading legal advisory team (in-house or private practice)

Strong commercial awareness and the ability to deliver pragmatic, business-focused advice

Why join now?

ScottishPower is investing heavily in the future of energy—and legal is at the heart of that transformation. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-profile team, work on game-changing projects, and build a career with real purpose.

For a confidential conversation about this opportunity, please contact Paula Dougal at or . We welcome expressions of interest and are happy to provide further details in confidence.

What’s in it for you

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.

At ScottishPower, we believe it’s the little things we do in life that make a big difference.
