About the Role
We are seeking a PSA SCADA Engineer to support and enhance mission-critical energy management and control systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in SCADA/EMS systems, particularly Client Reliance – Client XA/21, and experience in the full lifecycle of software development, system integration, and support for real-time, high-availability environments. This role will work within a collaborative engineering team, contributing to the design, testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of SCADA applications used in power system operations.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy SCADA/EMS applications and components within the Client XA/21 environment.
Perform full lifecycle development of new features and support existing SCADA applications used in real-time control systems.
Conduct software validation and verification including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), integration testing, and site commissioning.
Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to mission-critical systems, ensuring system reliability and availability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including controls, communications, and network engineering—to ensure seamless integration and operation.
Develop and maintain system documentation, configuration management, and test procedures.
Interface directly with customers to provide technical support, resolve issues, and deliver system enhancements.
Participate in continuous improvement activities and evaluate emerging technologies for application in SCADA systems.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
3+ years of hands-on experience in SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), or Real-Time Application development.
Proven experience working with Client Reliance – Client XA/21 systems is required.
Strong technical foundation in UNIX/Linux (AIX, Solaris preferred) and Windows environments.
Proficiency in C, C++, SQL, and shell scripting for application development and system automation.
Familiarity with network communications, real-time data acquisition, and system integration protocols.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for complex system environments.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Willingness to travel occasionally for site testing, commissioning, and customer support.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Rational ClearCase, Git) and change management discipline.
Knowledge of real-time databases, telemetry, and SCADA networking protocols (DNP3, ICCP, Modbus).
Background in energy transmission and distribution systems, power grid monitoring, or utility operations.
Process-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Self-starter capable of working independently and collaboratively in dynamic environments.
