American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position specializing in oncology care and requiring an OH or compact RN license.

Job Details

• Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit with an adult and geriatric oncology patient population,

• Patients include those diagnosed with cancers such as endometrial, bladder, renal, ovarian, and cervical cancers,

• Duties include chemotherapy administration, participation in clinical trials, brachytherapy, and neobladder care,

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation are required,

• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 but may adjust to 1:5 based on needs,

• Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts; assignments may include days, nights, or a combination,

• First week orientation is Monday to Friday on dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit precepted orientation,

• Self-scheduling possible with no set or blocked schedules,

• Variable weekend requirements according to unit needs,

• Uses EPIC EMR system,

Job Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand,

• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg/Tele nursing experience,

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification,

• Experience with chemotherapy administration and telemetry required,

• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and provide appropriate interventions,

• Experience with central line maintenance and feeding tube management,

• Preferred: Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chemotherapy certification,

• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program,

• At least 2 professional references required, with one from a supervisor or manager,

• Fingerprinting process must be completed promptly after contract signing,

• Responsibilities include direct care, chemotherapy administration, participation in clinical trials, and specialized procedures,

• Strong infection prevention and patient falls management protocols in place,

• Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team and rapid response teams as needed,

• First week consists of structured orientation and preceptorship,

• Locals are accepted at the same rate,

• Former employees eligible only after a 6-month break; current employees are ineligible as travelers at Ohio State University hospital locations,

• All time off requests must be included with initial consideration,
