Job Purpose

Leadership and ownership of our Supply Chain strategy and activity, leading the procurement and warehouse teams (Circa 12 people through 2 managers) ensuring optimal supplier performance inventory management and price. Develop and implement a strategy to ensure the function is operating in line with the objectives of the business to add value, mitigate supply chain risk and deliver cost savings. Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships, contractual relationships, and contract management to deliver continuous improvement in delivery of goods and services to the Operations teams. Lead a team of procurement and warehouse professionals Work alongside the senior management team globally contributing to overall business objectives.

Core Responsibilities

Lead Change: Collaborate with transformation leads across the business to bring about required changes to our current business processes in alignment with our three year business strategy. This will include the effective implementation of new MRP-aligned processes across the Supply Chain within Procurement, Warehouse and Despatch.

Team Leadership: Lead our Supply Chain professionals, optimize structure, roles and responsibilities ensuring balanced competency to expectation. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment across the team and the external HWM cross functional teams. Ability to strategically lead with the expectation to support the team from the front at times of peak demand. To take ownership and be proactive in resolving Supply Chain challenges

Develop Supply Chain Strategy: Develop and implement a Supply Chain strategy aligned with the organisation’s strategic objectives and target budget. Habitually identify and seek-out opportunities for cost savings, and process improvements.

SIOP Engagement: Encourage Sales, Inventory & Operations planning. Ensure the inventory, purchase orders and RM pipelines are sufficient to achieve the plan. Proactively identify potential gaps and drive actions plans to permanently resolve inefficiencies.

Stock inventory management: Lead the Internal and external stock control with our core suppliers balancing the working capital impact more towards the core mass at our suppliers ownership.

Supplier Management: Oversee the selection, evaluation, and management of suppliers. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the best terms, prices, and quality for the organisation.

Procurement Processes: Optimise procurement processes, policies, and procedures to ensure efficiency, compliance, and risk mitigation. Implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the procurement function.

Warehouse and Despatch: Identify opportunities for performance improvement on the shop floor, including closer alignment to the lean manufacturing methodologies and visual factory management being adopted in Production and Service.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders’ departments requiring procurement support, understand their requirements and align procurement strategies accordingly. Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to facilitate effective communication and collaboration. Build bridges with peers across other Halma companies to share best practice and industry insights

Budget and Cost Control: Collaborate with finance and other relevant departments to develop and manage the procurement budget. Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to control costs while maintaining quality standards.

Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies related to procurement activities. Develop and maintain a risk management framework to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks in the procurement process.

Performance Monitoring: Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the Supply Chain function. Track and analyse procurement metrics linked to on time in full (OTIF), supplier quality performance, inventory effectiveness and subsequently inform the Senior Leadership Team.

Supplier Development: Stay updated with market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies relevant to procurement. Identify new suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and foster strategic partnerships to drive innovation and competitive advantage.

Qualifications / Relevant Experience

Degree Calibre

Extensive experience in procurement, with a minimum of 5years in a leadership role.

In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, best practices, and industry trends.

Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

Excellent leadership and team management abilities.

Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in MRP / ERP software

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.

Strong business acumen and financial management skills.
