Position Overview
General Manager - Workshop
Meratus Group is seeking a seasoned General Manager to lead our Vessel & Non-Vessel (Heavy Equipment) Workshop Operations. You will ensure seamless maintenance and repair of Vessel & Non-Vessel while driving revenue growth, operational efficiency, and unwavering safety compliance. As the senior leader on site, you'll orchestrate project delivery, uphold quality standards, and foster strong client and vendor partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Oversee inbound/outbound procedures for vessel & heavy equipment and parts, ensuring accurate handling and on-time delivery.
Supervise workshop managers, supervisors, and technical staff to meet productivity and quality objectives.
Maintenance & Project Management
Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance for Caterpillar-class machinery and related assets.
Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to deliver on scope, time, and cost targets.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, government regulations, and company SOPs targeting zero accidents.
Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
Process Optimization & Financial Performance
Streamline workshop workflows and implement continuous-improvement initiatives to boost efficiency.
Drive revenue growth and EBITDA improvement through service excellence and cost-control measures.
Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain clear, proactive communication with clients, vendors, and internal leadership (BoD/BoC).
Negotiate supplier agreements, manage vendor performance, and resolve client escalations promptly.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Naval Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Technology, or a related field.
Experience: 15+ years in workshop or maintenance management within heavy-equipment or onshore maritime industries, including hands-on oversight.
Technical Competencies:
Deep expertise in vessel machinery and heavy-equipment repair, material handling, and maintenance planning.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations, government standards, and maritime/industrial compliance.
Soft Competencies:
Demonstrated leadership and team-development skills.
Excellent verbal and written English communication.
Proven track record in cost-effective project delivery and process improvement.
