The role

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of projects that support the Royal Navy Submarine Fleet. You’ll produce technical drawings for electrical installations and upgrades to submarine combat systems, ensuring our vessels remain at the cutting edge of defence technology. This is a chance to make a real impact on national security while advancing your career in a dynamic, highly regulated engineering environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll apply your engineering modelling and design expertise to support the integration of electrical systems on submarines and surface ships. You’ll work across hardware and software requirements, ensuring compliance with defence standards and contributing to the operational readiness of the Royal Navy.

Create 2D and 3D drawings and models to support system integration across design phases

Conduct on-board surveys and validation exercises

Implement best practices in design and safety documentation

Support production and quality assurance of technical documentation to required standards

Grow your technical knowledge and continue professional development within a multi-disciplinary team

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Electrical Designer

Experience in a regulated electrical engineering environment

Knowledge of electrical systems installation and legislation

Proficiency in 2D and 3D AutoCAD software

Strong safety awareness and commitment to quality

Proven reliability and productivity in engineering delivery

Qualifications for the Electrical Designer

ONC with appropriate apprenticeship or equivalent experience

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC security clearance for this role.
