Unit Information & Job Details – Open Heart Surgical Technologist 1. General Job Duties / Types of Procedures Required: The Open Heart Surgical Technologist serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary surgical team, ensuring a safe environment for patients across all age groups. Responsibilities include: Assisting the perioperative nurse with patient care Preparing and maintaining sterile supplies and instrumentation in the Operating Room (OR) Anticipating surgeon needs during procedures Ensuring all preparation and care reflect individual patient needs, including age-specific considerations Supporting open-heart procedures and broader surgical service lines 2. Equipment Utilized in the Unit/Department: Standard OR surgical instruments Open Heart surgical instrumentation da Vinci XI robotic system Specialty equipment for ENT, Ortho, Vascular, GYN, Urology Hybrid/vascular surgical equipment General robotic/open surgery instrumentation 3. Required Skills, Experience, and Education: Minimum 3 years of Open Heart surgical experience (REQUIRED) Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology (REQUIRED as of 6/25/2024) CST Certification preferred Mandatory experience in: General Surgery: robotic & open Orthopedics: fractures, total joints ENT: pediatrics, T&As, BMTs, parathyroid, thyroid, sinus, neck, ear procedures Vascular: carotid, AAA, hybrid, open vascular cases Robotics: da Vinci XI GYN & Urology: robotic & open 4. Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC) – required 5. Shift/Schedule Requirements: Variable shifts Standard shift: 0700–1730 ( 30 minutes for start/end) Some cases may start at 0700 Weekday, weekend, and holiday call required 6. Floating Requirements: May float to West Campus (approx. 3 miles from East Campus) 7. Bed Size / Number of Rooms: (Not provided – you may add if known) 8. Dress Code: Scrubs provided by facility 9. Orientation & Training Info: 12 hours of non-billable orientation Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation Must include FOS Candidate Presentation Checklist in submission packet Additional Compliance / Submission Details: Facility may call off up to 48 hours per 13-week assignment No local candidates (must live 50+ miles from facility) Mask Fit Test required (list make/model/size in submission) Indicate whether the candidate is 1099 List any requested time off in comments section
