DevOps Engineer – Belfast (Hybrid)

Day to day:
You’ll play a key role in strengthening the cloud infrastructure, enabling secure, reliable, and high-performance services. Your work will span observability, security, cost-efficiency, and infrastructure automation. In this role, you will:
Build intuitive dashboards and metrics to enhance incident response and overall observability.
Create proactive alerts aligned to SLOs to ensure fast and focused problem resolution.
Refine logging and tracing setups so engineers can easily understand system behavior and product flows.
Benchmark and evaluate cloud storage performance, helping shape choices around filesystems and tradeoffs.
Review network, IAM, and security configurations to maintain least-privilege, hardened environments.
Contribute to feature development within the application codebase when needed.
Improve logging, metrics, tracing, and authentication patterns across services.
Analyse cloud infrastructure costs and drive meaningful optimisations.
Write and maintain clean, reusable Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) for AWS, GCP, and Azure.
Partner with product engineering teams to support and improve IAM models.
Experience:
4+ years’ experience working in cloud-based engineering or platform roles.
A naturally curious mindset, with the willingness to dive deep into complex technical problems.
Hands-on experience delivering Infrastructure as Code in production environments (Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation, CDK, ARM/Bicep, etc.).
Experience with at least one programming language — Go or Java preferred.
Strong scripting abilities in Python, Bash, or similar.
Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to a fast-moving environment.
A strong sense of ownership, reliability, and accountability.
Bonus Skills
(Not required, but great to have)
Deep understanding of cloud storage, snapshots, encryption, and volume management.
Familiarity with filesystems and performance characteristics.
Experience working across multiple cloud vendors and handling cross-account IAM or identity federation.
Exposure to serverless platforms across AWS, GCP, or Azure.
