In the corrugated packaging industry, roles focusing on safety, quality, and food complaint handling are crucial.
1. Ensuring Food Safety:
Monitoring and maintaining food safety programs: This includes HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) programs, sanitation standard operating procedures (SOPs), pest control measures, and good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
Conducting regular audits and inspections: Ensuring compliance with internal and external food safety standards and regulations (e.g., BRC, SQF, customer/supplier audits).
Investigating food safety incidents: Following up on incidents to ensure they are reported, corrective actions are implemented, and permanent solutions are found.
Managing food safety management systems: Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and implementing a system that includes verification, product identification, and traceability.
2. Maintaining Product Quality:
Implementing quality control procedures: Ensuring raw materials and finished products meet required specifications.
Conducting product inspections and testing: Sampling and testing food products using established protocols to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Identifying and addressing quality defects: Analyzing data, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality.
Documenting quality assessments: Maintaining accurate records of inspections, testing results, and corrective actions.
3. Developing and Implementing Safety Programs:
Conducting Safety Training:
Educating employees on safe work practices, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures.
Inspections and Audits:
Regularly inspecting the workplace for hazards, identifying potential safety issues, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Incident Investigation:
Investigating accidents, near misses, and safety concerns to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences.
Maintaining Records:
Keeping accurate records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and other safety-related activities.
Ensuring Compliance:
Staying up-to-date on relevant safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) and ensuring the company adheres to them.
Promoting Safety Culture:
Encouraging employee participation in safety initiatives and fostering a positive attitude towards safety.
Emergency Preparedness:
Developing and maintaining emergency response plans and ensuring employees are aware of procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of safety regulations: Familiarity with OSHA standards and other relevant regulations.
Excellent communication skills: Ability to clearly explain safety procedures and train employees.
Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to identify hazards, investigate incidents, and develop solutions.
Organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain records, and prioritize safety initiatives.
Experience: Typically requires a few years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Education: A bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or a related field may be preferred, but not always required.
