BASIC FUNCTION:
Oversees issues and reviews project/drafting work in the Engineering and Construction Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
• Reviews scopes of work and assigns work to drafters and designers
• Maintains constant review of job status and initiates corrective measures to overcome delays and budget restrictions
• Develops specialized methods and techniques required for projects and trains designers and drafters in conjunction with management
• Reviews and checks various drawing for correctness
• Acts as liaison between engineers and drafters to coordinate project tasks effectively
• Ensures files for drawings and equipment are maintained in the filing system
• Maintains drafting equipment
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of five years of progressive drafting experience is required. Familiarity with construction and steel design is required. Supervisory experience is required.
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to train, develop and mentor designers and drafters of all levels. Current knowledge of industry standards and governmental requirements. Working knowledge of drafting procedures and engineering specialty discipline; strong spreadsheet, database and word processing applications knowledge; ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, technical information to all types of users, decision-making, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be responsible for the supervision of approximately five employees and/or contract draftsmen.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Office based with travel up to 25% by land and air required. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job conditions require sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, perceiving color differences. Job conditions may require standing, walking, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, and climbing up to 50lbs.
