Fleet Technician I

Position Summary

To serve our internal customers by maintaining and repairing the company's fleet of vehicles according to established company standards and federal law to ensure the safety, reliability, and functionality of the fleet.

Essential Functions

Performs preventative maintenance repairs which include replacing and rotating tires, completing vehicle component lubrication ad replacement, minor electrical and cooling system repairs to gas and diesel engine vehicles.

Performs preventative maintenance on trailers and Warehouse equipment such as Walkie Riders, Forklifts, Pallet Jacks and Powered hand carts.

Operates Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), including forklifts, motorized pallet jacks, and walkie riders in compliance with safety standards and company procedures.

Adheres to all company policies, standards and procedures (e.g. OSHA and safety requirements, AIB and Pepsi standards, FMCSA, Federal/State/Local Laws); wears all required personal protective equipment.

Complies with all safety and DOT regulations.

Communicates with: co-workers regarding repair status on equipment; internal customers regarding vehicle repair needs; supervisor regarding vehicle repair issues.

Transports equipment to outside maintenance shops for repair work not completed in-house.

Orders parts and maintains parts inventory.

Maintains cleanliness and assists in the organization of the fleet garage (e.g. cleans up spills, properly disposes of used parts).

Completes Federal annual inspection reports, preventative maintenance records, service repair order forms, time-off requests and other required paperwork according to established standards.

Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required.

Education Level

Minimum - High School or GED

Preferred - Vocational / Technical or equivalent degree; 2 Year / associate degree in diesel mechanics

Experience

Years of Experience - 1 year - with medium to heavy duty trucks required

Certificates & Licenses

Valid Driver's License; Employee must be insurable to operate a vehicle, as a condition of initial and continued employment.

Additional Requirements

Basic understanding of diagnostic software. Must be able to work around fumes, airborne particles and toxic/caustic materials. Must be able to work around moving equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks) and in a loud noise environment.
