Greenwich Public Schools seeks a full-time long-term substitute English language arts teacher from approximately January 20, 2026, through approximately June 30, 2026; the position carries full salary and benefits for the duration of the assignment.
The teacher should be well-trained in the implementation of the CT Core Standards with rigor, purpose, and planning to meet individual student learning needs. Effective use of technology to support instruction and personalized student learning is required.
Responsibilities:
Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom
Demonstrated strong content knowledge
Maintains accurate and complete records
Assesses student learning on a continual basis and identifies areas of intervention if needed
Communicates student progress with parents through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences
Designs instruction to meet the needs of all learners
Designs and implements assessments that measure progress and uses assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practices
Maintains a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner
Establishes and maintains professional relationships
Participates in professional learning Knowledge/Skills:
Experience working with adolescent children
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
Effective, active listening skills
Ability to work effectively with others
Organizational and problem-solving skills
A sense of humor
Qualifications Profile:
CT State Certification, or certifiability, in English, Grades 7-12 (#015), required
