About the Role
We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join a high-performing maintenance and reliability team within a major sheet steel manufacturing facility. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and production systems.
The Maintenance Engineer will serve as a technical leader within the maintenance department-driving reliability improvements, managing maintenance programs, and supporting continuous improvement across all mill operations. This position requires a hands-on approach, strong leadership, and a focus on long-term equipment performance and plant optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support all safety initiatives, ensuring a zero-injury culture and compliance with all safety standards.
Develop, implement, and monitor predictive and preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment uptime and reliability.
Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
Execute reliability-based projects to enhance performance, efficiency, and equipment life cycles.
Utilize data analysis and condition-based monitoring tools to drive maintenance decisions.
Lead or assist in capital projects, equipment upgrades, and system installations.
Drive continuous improvement in maintenance practices, cost control, and spare parts management.
Train and mentor technicians and maintenance staff to improve technical capabilities and safety performance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial maintenance or reliability role.
Strong understanding of safety standards, reliability engineering principles, and maintenance best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in steel manufacturing, particularly with rolling or galvanizing operations.
Proven leadership experience managing or guiding a maintenance team.
Experience supporting greenfield projects, including equipment installation, commissioning, or start-up of new facilities.
Professional certification such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) or CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer).
Familiarity with CMMS systems, root cause analysis, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
