Job Title: Lead Counselor
Employment Status: Full-Time

Job Summary
The Lead Counselor is a key member of the Clinical Leadership Team responsible for delivering direct clinical services while overseeing the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of care provided by the counseling staff. This position ensures adherence to clinical best practices, supports professional development, and fosters a trauma-informed, client-centered approach across all levels of care. The Lead Counselor plays a leadership role in program organization, group schedule management, and curriculum implementation, while mentoring team members and promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
Core Responsibilities
Deliver clinical services to a reduced caseload (35% productivity expectation)
Support staff through mentorship and supervision
Oversee and manage programming schedules and curriculum utilization
Maintain clinical documentation and quality assurance
Collaborate on treatment planning and program oversight
Participate in continuous improvement and performance initiatives
Job Duties
Clinical Services:
Provide individual, group, and crisis therapy
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with agency, Medicaid, and CARF standards
Develop individualized treatment plans in coordination with interdisciplinary teams
Manage site-wide group schedules, including PHP, IOP, OP/AC, weekend, Level 1, and mental health groups
Monitor group curriculum usage for compliance with BRC’s evidence-based standards
Maintain updated curriculum calendars for all group sequences (e.g., Lions1, Lions2, Tigers, etc.)
Leadership & Supervision:
Act as the first-line clinical support for counselors, interns, and support staff
Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring of new hires
Provide supervision to unlicensed staff as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor
Review clinical documentation and provide feedback or request corrections as needed
Program Oversight:
Ensure programming meets evidence-based and regulatory standards
Work with Clinical Supervisor and Director to ensure appropriate service coverage
Lead weekly clinical huddles or team meetings
Performance Improvement:
Identify and propose solutions for clinical workflow inefficiencies
Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and QI initiatives
Track clinical outcomes and contribute to ongoing improvement efforts
General Responsibilities:
Participate in Basecamp Recovery Center’s Quality Improvement activities
Conduct peer reviews and maintain compliance with Quality Assurance and OhioMHAS standards
Attend weekly Clinical Supervision, Staff, and Clinical Leads meetings
Support agency-wide initiatives and projects as assigned
Work Environment & Schedule
Flexible work schedule based on client and program needs
May require evening or weekend hours based on site requirements
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field
Active licensure in the state of Ohio: LCDC III, LSW, LPC, LISW, LICDC, LPCC, or equivalent
3–5 years of clinical experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment
Proven experience providing group, individual, and crisis counseling
