American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position caring for oncology patients on a rotating day and night shift, requiring an active OH or compact license and 2 years of experience.
Job Details
• Work on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a focus on adult and geriatric oncology patients,
• Patient population includes individuals diagnosed with various solid tumor cancers and those undergoing antineoplastic chemotherapy,
• Staffing ratios are generally 1:4 with a maximum of 1:5 patients per nurse,
• Care also provided for patients with med/surg conditions alongside oncology diagnoses,
• Heavy emphasis on infection prevention and patient fall protocols,
• Use of telemetry monitoring equipment for patient care,
• EPIC EMR system is used on the unit,
• Day and night 12-hour shifts required, with rotating schedule based on unit needs,
• Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units as needed,
• Self-scheduling with requests reviewed prior to final schedule posting,
• Weekends are required on a variable basis depending on unit needs,
• Orientation includes a week of Mon-Fri day shift followed by 36 hours of on-unit precepted orientation,
Job Requirements
• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration,
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program,
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience,
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required,
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required,
• Ability to care for adult and geriatric oncology patient populations,
• EPIC charting experience preferred,
• Previous travel RN experience preferred but not required,
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred,
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor or manager,
• Must have been separated from previous employment at this health system for at least 6 months for eligibility as a traveler,
• Former employees eligible after a 6-month break; current employees not eligible to apply as travelers,

• Responsibilities include caring for oncology patients throughout diagnosis, treatment, and end of life care,
• Strong emphasis on following infection prevention protocols and reducing patient falls,
• First-time travelers will be considered,
• All RTO (requested time off) must be submitted with initial application and will be built into the contract,
• Dress code requirements to be provided during onboarding,
• Must promptly complete OH fingerprinting process after offer acceptance,
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers,
• Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs,
• Successful candidates will work collaboratively with an experienced interdisciplinary team,
